Dev Baines, Ph.D.
Technical Director
Dr. Dev Baines is the Technical Director at ProMetic BioSciences Ltd. He joined ProMetic's team in 1996 and has held several positions within the division. Dr. Baines has 20+ years experience in the biopharmaceutical sector along with experience in the research and pre-clinical development of biopharmaceuticals. Dr. Baines has held several positions at GlaxoSmithKline where he was responsible for the Downstream Processing of Proteins and Natural Products. He did post-doctoral research in the Department of Microbiology (Queen Elizabeth College, University of London) and the Department of Biochemistry (St. Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College, London). He received his doctorate in Biochemistry from the University of London in 1979. Dr. Baines is also the author of several peer-reviewed publications and patents.
Mehryar Behizad, Ph.D.
Head of Quality & Regulatory Affairs
Dr. Mehryar Behizad is a biochemist by trade, having a Ph.D. in liquid phase bioseparation from the University of Sheffield (UK). In addition to experience in Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs he was a Technical Advisor for the United Kingdom Department of Trade and the Industry's Industrial Biosafety Group. He also has several years' experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, including drug discovery R&D.

Chief Executive Officer
ProMetic BioSciences Ltd
Dr Burton was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer of ProMetic Biosciences Ltd in February 2006 having served with the company since its formation. Dr Burton has over 23 years of commercial bioprocess and company management experience. He gained his Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge, U.K. researching novel affinity ligands for use in protein purification. After spending 2 years as a research scientist with Delta Biotechnology Ltd (now Novozymes) Dr Burton joined a new start-up company Affinity Chromatography Ltd as Research Manager and, following the establishment of a successful R&D group which developed Mimetic LigandTM adsorbents and won the Queens Award for Technological Achievement, was appointed R&D Director.
Following the acquisition in 1999 of Affinity Chromatography Ltd by Prometic Life Sciences Inc., Dr Burton has held a variety of positions within ProMetic and has established numerous commercial collaborations with medical and biopharmaceutical companies.
Barry H. Gibson
Owner
Aroma-Tec Industries Inc.
Mr. Barry Gibson is the owner of Aroma-Tec Industries, a group dedicated to the development of novel aspects of the fragrance industry including a Museum of Perfumery. He studied Clinical Biochemistry at The London Hospital in the United Kingdom and subsequently founded several international scientific companies.
In 1989 the Canadian Government introduced Mr. Gibson to Mr. Pierre Laurin who presented ProMetic's platform technology to the Aroma-Tec group. Mr. Gibson assisted in the founding of ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. and has acted as a Director since 1994.
Mark Jackson
Commercial Director - Europe
Mr. Jackson joined ProMetic during March 2005 in the capacity of European Sales Manager. In September 2006, Mr. Jackson was promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing and has since worked closely with the executive management team on the restructure and focus of the commercial activities of ProMetic BioSciences Ltd to deliver and ensure sustainable revenue growth and to maximise the return on investments made in relation to ProMetic's products and technology. Previously Mr. Jackson worked for Millipore Corporation where he gained 12 years experience in a variety of strategic sales and sales management roles and brings experience working with market-leading suppliers to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry.
Mr. Jackson graduated in 1989 from King's College, University of London with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Microbiology.
Pierre Laurin, B.Sc.Pharm., M.Sc.
Chairman of the Board, President & Chief Executive Officer
ProMetic Life Sciences Inc.
Mr. Pierre Laurin has over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Involved in the development of ProMetic's platform technology since 1989, Mr. Laurin founded ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. in 1994. As Chairman and CEO of the Company since its inception, he took the Company public on the Toronto Stock Exchange and has since raised over $95 million through equity financings and multinational funding. Mr. Laurin’s corporate development achievements include the successful close of some 20 licensing agreements and joint venture agreements with multinationals including the American Red Cross, Merck, and Arriva Pharmaceuticals.
Mr. Laurin’s prior experience also includes positions with various pharmaceutical companies, including Nordic Laboratories (now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aventis) where he played a pivotal role in the commercial success of Cardizem, Canada.
Mr. Laurin holds a B.Sc. in Pharmacy and a Masters degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Montreal.
Cory J. Pigeon
Commercial Director - North America
Mr. Pigeon was appointed ProMetic's Commercial Director - North America in October 2008. In this role, he works closely with the executive management team on the structure and focus of the commercial activities of the Company to ensure the successful commercialization of the Company's current and future product portfolio. Prior to joining PBL Mr. Pigeon held positions with Catalent Pharma Solutions and Wave Biotech where he was responsible for sales, business development, and sales management capacities. With combined experience in the biotech sector of over 10 years, Mr. Pigeon brings experience working with virtual, mid-sized, and large biotech and pharmaceutical companies in both upstream and downstream capacities.
Mr. Pigeon graduated in 1998 from Oregon State University with a B.S. in Biology.
Bruce Pritchard, BA, CA, MIoD
Chief Financial Officer
ProMetic Life Sciences Inc.
Prior to his nomination as Chief Financial Officer of the ProMetic Group, Mr. Bruce Pritchard was formerly Chief Financial Officer of PBL. Mr. Pritchard is a Chartered Accountant with many years of experience in corporate accountancy including senior finance positions with biotech and pharmaceutical companies. Mr Pritchard has a proven track record of success in strategic acquisitions and raising finance from public and private sources. Mr. Pritchard is currently Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland's England & Wales Area Committee and is a Trustee and Non-Executive Director of The Scottish Global Health Foundation.
Mr. Pritchard is a graduate of Heriot-Watt University where he gained a BA in Accountancy and Computer Science in 1993. He qualified as a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland in 1996.
